Title Research: Watch the Titles Website

Image
Well to start off the website was very easy to use.  As I skimmed through it, I found the site very inviting, well organized and overall appealing to the eye, with no bright colors or flashing screens. I clicked on the first movie that I saw, which was about the movie The Silence of the Lambs. I was immediately shown the video of the entire beginning sequence, saving me time from having to search it. After watching the video, I scrolled down to find images from the video with a couple paragraphs, explaining them in depth. The images had a nice description of what the audience saw but also how they felt, or what message the director was passing. The Website itself is very useful, showing quick facts and information in neatly organized boxes, making searching for common things (such as who directed the movie, for example) easy to find. This site is perfect for our research on introductions in movies. This site has all genres, including mystery. Thanks to this site, we can now analyze...

Genre Decision Blog

Image
Our Opening sequence for our movie will be the mystery genre. All of us in the group have always been fan of the mystery genre for many reasons. That idea of not knowing what happens next and trying to figure it out by yourself is something we all love. A good mystery is what keeps an audience on its feet. The thrill of the mystery is something we wanted to re-create in our film. To be completely honest, our group struggled to pick a genre. While we all love the mystery genre, we also love the horror and action genres. We had many different ideas for potential genres that we wanted to do. We know that horror is perhaps the easiest genre for a group to film, since it requires little to no special effects. However, as we mentioned earlier, the horror genre is easy to do, and such would be done by many other groups. Our group wanted to do something different. For our opening sequence, we wanted to pay homage to some of our favorite mystery movies. Specifically, we wanted to show ...

Genre Research: Thriller and Action

Thriller- The thriller genre is subordinate to the horror film genre.  Thriller movies have more of a psychological effect on the audience with suspense. What makes thriller movies a top genre in theaters is the CAMS and CLAMPS used. CAMS High Angle- This shot is used to show the audience a group of people that are powerless. Close-up shots- Close-up shots are used in thriller films to show more detail of a character or place. Point of view shot- This camera shot is for the audience to feel the suspense of a thriller film from a character's perspective.  Over the shoulder shot- This shot is used to see a character's facial expressions from a single character's perspective. This builds up suspense in the film. Low angle shot- This camera shot is used to show the audience the dominance of the villain in a thriller film.  CLAMPS Setting- Settings for thriller films are usually spooky places such as a dark forest, haunted house, or a small village. Low Key lighting- Thi...

Our Pitch

Image
After an hour of deliberation and throwing ideas around, our group had many different Pitches. Each pitch was different, from a spy movie which included a heist to a time travel movie. When deciding what Pitch to choose, we had to take multiple factors into consideration. Firstly, the budget. Being High school students, we have a tight budget, and therefore cannot perform too many stunts or have too much CGI. This meant that we had to abandon our plans for a Fantasy genre movie. Secondly, we had to consider time. We have a limited time to produce these parts of the movie, and therefore cannot pick something which requires specific weather or a certain time. In the end, however, we eliminated the pitches and ended up with two final pitches. These final pitches in our opinion are the best ones that we can film and make them look good with what we have available for us.Below are the two pitches we have decided to keep: Pitch 1: A classic murder mystery story, this movie follows Zachary as...

Staring the final task

Image
Hi my name is Richard Clem. I’m 17 years old and I’m a junior at Fort Lauderdale High School. My group mates I’m going to be working with are Marius Brossard and Alec Mercado. These are some of my closest friends. We have known each other since middle school. We are always helping each other out with work. With this final project we are able to work together. When we work together we are able to accomplish a lot of work. The work we produce is good quality. For a long time we have thought of things we can do as a group. Like this project, we have thought of making short films together in the past. Back in middle school we worked together on multiple music video projects and passed them all at the top of our class. Marius and I have worked together on a previous project and it turned out great. Marius has great time management. While Alec has great editing skills. I have great filming skills. With all of this working on this video we will combine our skills and put forth our best e...
