Critical Reflection Questions

  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it  represent  social groups or issues?  My project  went against conventions. The convention is that the song is done in real time. The songs are usually done  in concert and done in real life.  For our project  we did  video. Then we did a music clip over  the video  to have the music video style.  Another convention that we went against was that the style of black and red color scheme . In the video Marius had a blue scheme with only wearing blue. This color is the exact  opposite  of  the black and red scheme .  Our product does not  represent  any social group or issues. One thing our product does  represent  was the fear of the dentist. Our product was made to show th e fear of the dentist could  almost be  described as going to hell for some people .      2. How does your product engage wi...

AICE Mediastudies Music Video

Highway to Hell from R ichard on Vimeo . Well from the start of this project I was thinking of what song we could do. Marius and I were thinking of what genre we could do, then we came up with the rock genre. We then were thinking of what song we could do. Marius and I thought of the song Highway To Hell. We liked the idea of using that song because we could think of ways to show the idea of "Hell." We then went onto the storyboard process, I was the one who was going to do the drawing and come up with the scenes. I was thinking of what ways I could show "Hell" I came up with all sorts of ideas. The one that I stuck with was a kid going to the dentist. The reason I picked this was because people have a fear of the dentist. I knew I could portray the fear of the dentist as it being this persons "Hell." I went on to think of the scenes that would portray this the best. This is what I came up with, A little kid is pulling up to the dentist. The sky is dar...

Filming/Editing Blog for Music Video

For the filming part of the blog I am going to talk about how we thought of coming up with our ideas to film and how we were going to film it. Well when Marius and I thought about our song Highway to Hell we thought of places that people don't like. Now I just don't me like a oh i don't wanna go there today. I mean like a pure fear or going there and a pure hatred for that one place. We were coming up with places that people have a fear of. Most of the places we thought of were either unable to film there or just we didn't have a way of getting there. We then thought of the Dentist. People tend to have a fear of the dentist so I thought that this place would be a perfect representation of "hell." We then listened to the song and planned out how we were going to film the video. Once that was all done we got to filming and finished up in about an hour. For the editing part of the blog I am going to tell you what I did to help out Marius with the editing. Well t...

Editing Blog for Music Video

Image
Well Marius and I when we finished filming our video we came to the conclusion that he would be doing the editing for the Music Video. The reason for this is because he is better at using editing software than I am which is a big help for me. But if I am to assume what Marius did was this he uploaded all the clips from the filming we did. Then he put the clips in order from beginning to end. Then he played through them to make sure there is no error in the play through. While he would go through and see if there are any errors in the play through he would most likely shorten the video if need be in places that can be easily removed and won't mess up the flow of the video. Once Marius get done with that part he would most likely go into the transitions to make sure he would be able make them as smooth as possible. He would then work on the intro of the music video so it goes along with the pace of the music. Then Marius would go find the song that we are going to use. Marius would ...

Filming Blog for Music Video

Well we started off the day by meeting up with each other at my house. We came up with a good place to film the music video. Then we decided who was going to film and who was going to be in the music video. We came up with that I was going to be the camera man. While Marius was going to be in the music video. We walked there it took about 10 minutes. It was in the same building as my old dentist. I filmed the intro of the music video of Marius walking past a sign pointing to the building. I then filmed Marius walking into the first floor of the building. This is then followed up by him walking up to an elevator going up to the dentist office. Once he presses the button to call the elevator he walks in and the doors close. Once the doors close there is a shot of the elevator going up towards the Dentist's office. Once we got the main shots done we went back and did a couple reshoots. During the first reshoot of the opening scene the storyboard fly's off my clipboard and we both ...

Planning Storyboard for my music viedo

Scene 1: In this first scene, as the music begins, a car pulls up to the driveway. As the video begins, the camera gets closer and closer to the window with the child. Scene 2: The camera moves on slowly before the child. The child opens the door, and closes it before starting to walk towards the camera. Scene 3: As the child continues walking in the background, the screen gets darker (with potential cloud added in editing, but that is still to be determined). The child continues to walk, and we see a sign that leads to a dentist. Scene 4: The music continues, and the child notices the sign, just as the music reaches "Highway to Hell". We see the boy start to fear, as his eyes widen and he starts screaming "NO!NO!". Scene 5: The Child's father, which will be seen in the first scene in the car, pushes his son forward, urging him to keep moving. The Child shows some resistance, but is still pushed through. Scene 6: The camera is now behind the child as he is bei...

Planning For My Music Video

Song Title : Highway to Hell by AC/DC Props:  The Majority of Props are still undecided, but we will most likely keep the style of AC/DC. Since most of those songs are usually just a concert, we will have to create something original and break the convention. However, we will do our best to stay true to the original band with our clip. Our Props will include (but are not limited to): A car, some books, preferably school textbooks, and breakfast items, such as bowls, spoons, bread, and more.  Costumes:  Since we are defying the convention of most AC/DC songs, we have creative freedom with costumes. However, we do want to stick to the regular AC/DC attire, which is usually all black. To stick to the theme, we will wear all dark clothes. We will, however, allow for perhaps a little color regarding our clothing to stick with the theme of the clip. Schedule:  As of today, Tuesday the 17th, we begin the preparation for the filming. This includes setting up a locatio...
