Research Blog: Music Video Conventions

 Well to start off the newer music videos made by ACDC are concert like but because of COVID its just them a stage and a camera crew. In these music videos they use a basic color scheme which is black and red. They will use some editing skills to add in effects like a neon red outline around Axl Rose's body. They flash from a red black room of just one person to the whole band on a stage playing, depending on whats going on they will either put in the whole group or if doing a solo part they will flash to a red room outlined in black with the soloist playing their solo. Along with the outline of neon red around a members body they will have a neon red outline of the instrument they play as well. An example of this in the music video Shot In The Dark around 1:31 they have a shot of Cliff Willams playing his guitar and on his guitar there is a moving streak of a neon red light. This has been a new trend where you will see flashes of an outline of a person with some sort of neon colored light moving around their body or following the person's body movements. This shows that they are keeping up with trends. In the new music videos they wear the same style of clothing, like leather jackets boots, they wear that old style of rock clothing. Other than that their music videos are basically the same. Let's move onto their older music videos ones from like 7 or 8 years ago. These are clips or concert like shoots. These have less vibrant colors and more of stage lights. This makes it feel more like they are in a live concert. They way and the look of the video says old style rock. The clothing is not the traditional style of leather and boots they wear suits and almost normal clothing. While in the video they usually don't flash or switch to solo clips of members of the band. The mainly just keep a video focused on the whole band. This shows that we could use a flash of a solo part and then move back into the group part. We can use the colors Red and Black. Finally we can use clothing such as leather jackets and boots.
